I hope you will allow me to be an overtly proud daughter for a moment. As far as Dads go, I happen to think mine is awesome! He takes his work seriously, and I wanted to portray his professionalism along with the warmth of his character that I know so well.

Anyone who has ever flown a plane will, I am sure, agree that it is with great pride that one pins on those silver wings. After watching my Dad do it for the last 30 years, I think I am entitled to a little pride too! I was even lucky enough to capture his team- what a crew!

I loved combining the subtlety of a portrait with the immense power of a 787 plane. At around 200 feet long, the opportunities to play with scale and pattern were endless. The highlights from a clear blue sky reflected in the metallic materials was a total bonus! I wonder if I can build a jet engine in my studio…

Today, my office was the tarmac at Tampa International Airport, and I had a blast. For pilots, their office is the sky. How cool is that?! As Leonardo Da Vinci wrote, When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.”
